See if the setup results in a holiday hostess brawl or if long-standing tensions are resolved with a new understanding.

3. Family Switch

Based on Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s 2010 children’s book Bedtime for Mommy, McG’s new comedy offers a powerful dose of togetherness to a five-member family that is plagued by busy schedules and generational disconnections.

The film features Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms as parents of three kids and a dog, who are body-swapped right before Christmas, forcing them all to walk in each other’s shoes. It’s the time of year for intense empathy.

4. Let It Snow

Luke Snellin’s teen romantic comedy, which is based on the same-titled YA novel by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle, centers on a large group of teenagers on a snowy Christmas Eve.
